Young People Missing From Vaccine Services
YouthLink Scotland · 2026
This Scottish study explored why young people aged 11–18 are missing from vaccine services, examining their attitudes, knowledge, and barriers to vaccination. Key findings show that fears about needles and side effects, embarrassment, parental influence, and lack of clear information are the main barriers. Young people overwhelmingly trust NHS healthcare professionals for vaccine information and want honest, reassuring campaigns delivered in schools and on TikTok, with more private spaces provided when vaccines are administered.
