This report explores how young people aged 10–25 across the UK respond to loneliness and why they find it hard to talk about. A survey of 2,044 young people found that most show a strong self-help spirit, using an average of 2–3 strategies to cope with loneliness, though the most effective techniques are not always the most commonly tried. The report also finds significant untapped potential for peer support, with an estimated 1.7 million young people willing but not yet acting to help peers beat loneliness, and highlights that only 26% feel confident talking about loneliness openly.
