London Foundation for Banking & Finance · 2025
This annual index by the London Foundation for Banking & Finance tracks the financial attitudes, behaviours, and capabilities of 15–18-year-olds across the UK. The 2025/26 edition finds that financial capability among British teenagers remains low, with only 19% able to correctly answer basic questions on interest, inflation, and risk, and 64% reporting anxiety about money. Despite strong appetite to learn — 80% want to know more — schools and banks are rarely cited as sources of financial understanding, with parents remaining the primary influence for 61% of respondents. The report argues that the Government's new Financial Inclusion Strategy and planned curriculum changes present a significant opportunity to address entrenched inequality.
