This report by Young Women's Trust explores how the coronavirus pandemic affected young women aged 18–30 across England and Wales in 2020. It finds that young women faced disproportionate impacts including job and income loss, increased unpaid caring responsibilities, financial hardship, and worsening mental health. Women of colour, disabled young women, single mothers, and those experiencing economic abuse were among the hardest hit. The report combines a large representative survey with peer-led in-depth interviews, and concludes with recommendations from young women themselves covering safe work, financial support, mental health services, and digital access.
