The Cumbria Youth Commission gathered views from over 1,500 young people aged 14–25 across Cumbria on four priority issues: mental health, hate crime, abuse, and drug and alcohol abuse. The research was conducted by 28 young commissioners who delivered 35 peer-led workshops and collected responses via postcards. Key findings include widespread dissatisfaction with mental health support services, a lack of awareness and police response around hate crime, inadequate support for abuse victims, and concerns about the accessibility of drugs and alcohol and links to gang activity. The report makes recommendations to Cumbria Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the Youth Commission itself on how to better address these issues.
